talkbackTHAMES’ Head of Entertainment Richard Holloway was awarded the Royal Television Society’s Judges Award at Tuesday night’s RTS Programme Awards.

In a career spanning over 40 years to date Richard has worked on almost every great entertainment hit you can name, from The Muppet Show and Spitting Image to Play Your Cards Right, Family Fortunes and Pop Idol, not to mention the phenomenally successful shows The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent.

He worked his way up through the industry from Stage Assistant at ATV to Head of Entertainment here at talkbackTHAMES, via roles as Controller of Entertainment at Central Television and Head of Entertainment at Carlton.

His programmes make up three of the five most successful entertainment shows of the decade, with The X Factor, Britain’s Got Talent and Pop Idol coming in at two, three and four respectively.

Many of Richard’s shows have gone on to sell internationally and become global successes, thanks in no small part to Richard’s editorial and creative leadership.

Richard always goes the extra mile for excellence, and his ability to provide quality family entertainment in unsurpassed. He is an inspiration to the many producers he has trained and nurtured and yet is a modest man who is thoroughly deserving of this accolade.
