14.2 MILLION PEOPLE WATCHED AS ALEXANDRA BURKE WAS VOTED THE X FACTOR WINNER on Saturday 13th December
An incredible peak audience of 14.6 million people, - 54% of the total viewing public - tuned in to watch Alexandra Burke, JLS and Eoghan Quigg go head to head to win The X Factor title and a £1m recording contract. The main show which guest starred Boyzone, Westlife and Beyonce averaged 13.2 million viewers, 50% (64% 16-34) which is an increase of nearly 2 million on the previous year. A peak audience of 14.2 million people tuned into watch The X Factor Results show – 58% of the total viewing audience (71% 16-34 year olds). Not only is this the best performing episode of The X Factor ever, it also means that talkbackTHAMES now produces the two top highest rated shows of 2008 (along with Britain's Got Talent on 13.9million) and the top two highest rated talent shows of the decade!
Over on ITV2 729,000 (1.42%) tuned in to see Holly Willoughby talk to the top 12 finalists at 8.45pm while the Xtra Factor Results show delivered a whopping 1,626,000 (11.4%) peaking at 2,093,000 (13.9%)
